Middle East disruption tightens grip on synthetic motor oil supply
Lubricant makers warn that Middle East disruptions are squeezing supplies of Group III base oils used in synthetic motor oils, pushing prices higher and hitting especially low-viscosity grades like 0W-8, 0W-16, and 0W-20; ILMA notes sizable U.S. supply disruptions and industry groups expect conditions to worsen through 2026–2027, though a broad retail shortage is unlikely, with occasional out-of-stock and higher prices at oil changes rather than a complete disappearance from shelves.
