
Giants Hire Gary Pettis as Third Base Coach to Sharpen Baserunning
The San Francisco Giants announced the hiring of Gary Pettis as their new third-base coach, replacing Hector Borg who moved to a player development role. Pettis, 68, brings 27 years of coaching experience and 11 years as an MLB player, including a decade as Houston’s third-base coach and a role on the Astros’ staff during their two World Series titles. He previously coached for the White Sox, Angels, Mets, Rangers and Astros, and will serve under rookie manager Tony Vitello, sharing expertise on baserunning and outfield defense.
