Sixers tap Gansey to run front office in a new era
The Philadelphia 76ers are hiring Mike Gansey as their lead basketball operations executive to replace Daryl Morey, with Bob Myers involved in the process. Gansey, who rose through Cleveland's ranks to GM, is viewed as a sharp but inexperienced executive for a top NBA role. Internal candidate Jameer Nelson was also considered. The Sixers face a pivotal offseason with expensive max contracts for Joel Embiid and Paul George and a core around Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe, leaving little time to learn on the job.
