Chicago regains top spot on 2026 bed bug rankings as travel hotspots see upticks
Chicago again leads Orkin’s 2026 Bed Bug Cities List for the most bedbug treatments, followed by Los Angeles, Detroit, Cleveland and Indianapolis in the top five; Tampa and Myrtle Beach saw increased activity, with Nashville and Oklahoma City rising in the rankings. The rankings cover May 2025–May 2026 across residential and commercial treatments, and experts caution that bedbugs can appear anywhere, advising travelers to inspect luggage, mattresses and furniture and to use lint rollers to detect hitchhikers.
