Missing Bennington Man with Dementia Found Dead in River
The body of Gary Monroe, a 72-year-old man with dementia who went missing on Friday, was found in the Walloomsac River on Sunday. Despite a large search effort involving law enforcement, search and rescue crews, and volunteers, Monroe was not found alive. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but there are no indications of foul play. The search for another missing man, Stephen Dodge, ended with him being found on the grounds of the Vermont Veterans Home.
