Colombian Immigrant Fatally Shot by ICE in Biddeford Sparking Community Outcry
Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, a 26-year-old Colombian immigrant with work authorization who worked as a delivery driver in Biddeford, was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent early Monday after a confrontation at a Biddeford intersection. ICE says Guerrero was not the target and was trying to flee; surveillance shows his white Kia being rammed before officers removed him. The Colombian Embassy confirmed his identity, and his family and partner mourn his loss as neighbors recount his work ethic and generosity. Colombian President Gustavo Petro called the killing a “murder at the hands of the U.S. government.” A vigil is planned in Bucaramanga and a GoFundMe fundraiser has raised close to $100,000 for Guerrero’s family. The incident remains under investigation.
