Two Die in Queensboro Bridge Bike-Lane Crash Involving Scooter
Two people were killed in a crash in the westbound bike lane of the Queensboro Bridge when a stand-up scooter collided with an eastbound bicyclist around 8:21 a.m. The scooter operator, 39-year-old Allan Francis Deball, died along with a 35-year-old cyclist who has not yet been named. The scooter was deemed illegal for speed, and the bike path’s 15 mph limit was in effect. The incident disrupted traffic on the bridge while investigators worked, and safety advocates emphasized the dangers of high-speed micromobility in protected bike lanes.
