Pocognoli’s Scotland Shows Promise but Lacks Finishing Touch in Slovenia Draw
Scotland drew 0-0 with Slovenia in new manager Sebastien Pocognoli’s debut, featuring a disjointed first half followed by a dominant second-half performance that lacked clinical finishing. Billy Gilmour was pivotal in the second half, while Oli McBurnie and Kieron Bowie missed clear chances. Pocognoli adjusted tactics at halftime to improve control and pressing, but the team failed to score despite creating multiple opportunities. The result leaves Scotland with one point in their Nations League opener, with their next match against Switzerland scheduled for September 29.
