Silver Room Block Party Reboots at Salt Shed With a Leaner, Curated Vibe
Chicago’s Silver Room Sound System Block Party returns on July 18 at the Salt Shed (capacity ~7,000) as a one-day, curated experience, with tickets on sale April 17. Despite past financial losses from larger Oakwood Beach/Hyde Park runs, founder Eric Williams aims to preserve the party’s vibe—featuring house, hip hop, Afrobeats, live performances and pop-ups—while adopting a more sustainable, business-friendly model and tying the event to Black culture and America’s 250th anniversary.
