Friedl Back in Reds’ Center Field as Dunn Goes on IL
The Cincinnati Reds recalled TJ Friedl from Triple-A to replace the injured Blake Dunn, who was placed on the injured list with elbow discomfort. Friedl had struggled this season but has surged in Triple-A, posting a .271/.370/.471 line with a 122 wRC+ in 81 plate appearances, suggesting he’s back to being an everyday option in center field. Dunn will undergo elbow evaluations in Cincinnati and is expected to remain a defensive backup upon his return; Matt McLain could also handle occasional center-field duties if needed.
