UK concessions boost US antitrust push in Paramount-WBD deal
Paramount's UK remedies to secure CMA clearance for its $111 billion Warner Bros. Discovery merger are being hailed by anti-merger campaigners, including Block the Merger, as lending credibility to the U.S. lawsuit brought by 12 state attorneys general. The deal’s UK commitments include keeping linear channels separate from streaming, ensuring Channel 5 News’s editorial independence, and granting access to CNN/CBS archives. The coalition says the concessions are encouraging but not the whole fight, and the U.S. case is set for trial in March 2027.
