Bluffton Lightning Storm Triggers Fatal Home Fire, Two Dead
A Bluffton home in the Edgefield area caught fire during a lightning storm, killing Mirjana Dizdarevic, 71, and Dzevad Dizdarevic, 73, from smoke inhalation, with one cat also dying as six pets were evacuated; investigators from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are probing the blaze, which also injured a Bluffton firefighter and prompted Red Cross assistance for the family. This was the first fatal structure fire in Bluffton Township Fire District in two years.
