Giants Promote Bo Davidson, Activate Marcelo Mayer in Late-Season Roster Shuffle
San Francisco promoted Bo Davidson to the MLB roster and activated Marcelo Mayer off the IL, designating lefty Philip Abner for assignment to clear 40-man space. Jung Hoo Lee is out with a groin contusion and Bryce Eldridge is on a seven-day concussion list. Davidson, an undrafted free agent in 2023, has strong minor-league numbers and could push for a future 40-man spot, while Mayer—the 2021 No. 4 overall pick—returns from injury for a late-season audition and a chance to compete for the second-base job in spring training.
