Armed CBP Enter Tribal Lands as Border-Wall Work Advances on Tohono O’odham Nation
The Tohono O’odham Nation says roughly 20 masked, armed Customs and Border Protection agents entered tribal lands to guard border-wall contractors drilling at three sites, part of the Trump administration’s plan to build a wall across 62 miles of the reservation. The tribe, which has previously escorted contractors off the nation for lacking permits, now faces a CBP blockade that impedes issuing citations. Tribal leaders call for halting wall work on their land and say they’re pursuing legal options after a federal judge allowed construction to continue.
