Cubs ride six-run sixth to an 8-2 win over Brewers, Peterson dazzles in debut
The Cubs erupted for six runs in the sixth to turn a 2-2 game into an 8-2 victory over the Brewers. Seiya Suzuki opened the scoring with a two-run homer, Nico Hoerner delivered an RBI single, and Ian Happ launched a three-run shot to break the game open. Cubs rookie starter David Peterson was impressive in his Cubs debut, going 5.2 innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts, after Milwaukee’s Kyle Harrison worked five innings and reached a 92-pitch count. The Cubs added insurance with a sacrifice fly from Bregman and a solo homer from Conforto late, and bullpen relief sealed the win.
