Spectrum Rebrands Cox Footprint After Charter Acquisition
Charter Communications’ Spectrum has fully replaced the Cox cable TV brand in former Cox markets in a rollout dubbed Spectrum Day, expanding Spectrum service to more than 11 million homes and businesses and to over 70 million in 45 states. The $34.5 billion merger positions Spectrum as a leading internet and video provider with multi-gig fiber; it offers new packages including Internet without data caps, Spectrum Mobile (one year of mobile service for eligible Internet customers) and a savings guarantee. Cox customer-service jobs are moving to U.S.-based centers, with 24/7 support and same-day technician dispatch promised; the corporate entity will eventually be renamed Cox Communications, while the consumer-facing brand remains Spectrum on products and billing. Integration work will continue in the coming months.
