Newark Near-Miss: United 767 Skims a Pole and Bread Truck on Landing
A United Airlines Boeing 767-400 on approach to Newark Liberty International Airport struck a light pole and, per preliminary reports, contact the top of a tractor trailer carrying bread. The truck driver suffered minor injuries, while all 221 passengers and 10 crew members were unharmed; the aircraft sustained minor damage. The NTSB and FAA are investigating, and United says the crew has been removed from service during the safety review.
