Maesteg teen Ethan Griffiths returns cancer-free after clinical trial for relapsed Burkitt lymphoma
Ethan Griffiths, a 14-year-old from Maesteg, has returned home cancer-free after undergoing a clinical trial for relapsed Burkitt lymphoma. Diagnosed in January, he achieved remission in May but experienced an aggressive relapse two weeks later. He participated in a UK-wide trial at Bristol Royal Hospital Children involving two new drugs, which had a 50% success rate. Following intensive chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, he is now recovering at home, focusing on rebuilding fitness and returning to school gradually.
