Kartal Falls Short in Wuhan Final but Secures British No. 1 Ranking

Sonay Kartal lost the Wuhan Open final to Maja Chwalinska but will become Britain's No. 1 player on Monday. The 24-year-old, returning from a six-month back injury, reached the final of her third tournament since returning but faded in a three-set match. Chwalinska won 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 to claim her first WTA 1000 title. Kartal's run included victories over top-10 players and former champions, securing her place just below her career-high ranking.

Wildcard Arthur Fery Surges to Wimbledon Semi-Finals in Historic British Moment

British wildcard Arthur Fery stunned ninth seed Flavio Cobolli in three sets to reach the Wimbledon men's singles semi-finals, marking only the fifth time a Brit has done so in the Open era. The 23-year-old rises to about world No. 36 and will face Alexander Zverev next, with a prize purse around £900,000. Fery’s run, backed by the LTA and Stanford background, reflects a notable surge for British tennis as Centre Court cheered his historic run.
