Vintage charm and transit access seal a $259K South Philly rowhome

Two Nashville transplants bought a 960-square-foot, three-bedroom, 1957 South Philly rowhouse near the Broad Street Line for $259,000, paying full asking price with a $5,500 seller’s credit; the home was sold as-is but an inspection-related plumbing issue was fixed by the seller and the appraisal came in above asking. They put 5% down from a retirement account and used mortgage points to keep monthly payments under $2,000. They moved themselves over several weekends, embraced vintage 1960s–1970s furniture, renamed a Florida room the Eagles’ Nest, and navigate a shared sewer line while avoiding a gutted “millennial gray” renovation.

Fatal Shooting on SEPTA's Center City Platform, Suspect in Custody

A man was fatally shot on the northbound Walnut-Locust platform of the Broad Street Line in Center City, Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon. The shooting appeared to be the result of a fight between two men, and the suspected shooter was taken into custody. The victim was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after. SEPTA offered extra service for the Phillies-Reds game, which caused the Broad Street Line to be busier than usual. The Broad Street Line was disrupted for several hours as law enforcement processed the scene.
