Phillies edge Diamondbacks 2-1 to cap August on a high note
The Phillies closed August 21-7, the majors’ best mark, by beating Arizona 2-1 in Phoenix behind Bryson Stott’s 464-foot homer and a Bryce Harper RBI double. Aaron Nola earned the win with five innings of one-run ball, and the bullpen finished strong as Philadelphia extended its streak to 14 wins in 16 games. The win puts the Phils atop the NL wild-card race and four games back of the Braves in the NL East, with a seven-game series against Atlanta looming; roster additions Rafael Marchan and Grant Holman were announced as September rosters expanded.
