New Jersey Deputy AG Fired After Arrest for AI-Generated Child Abuse Material
Brian Richard Fitzgerald, a 51-year-old New Jersey deputy attorney general, was arrested in Pennsylvania on October 15, 2026, and fired from his state post. He faces felony charges for using artificial intelligence to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and distributing it via Discord. Investigators also allege he possessed and shared CSAM depicting real children. The case began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reported a tip in July 2026. Fitzgerald was held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility with bail set at $2 million.
