Brazil bungee tragedy triggers charges as instructors allegedly dumped student from bridge; past 'body drop' video surfaces
Three Brazilian bungee instructors have been charged with the death of 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas after they allegedly hurled her from an abandoned railway bridge without a safety rope. A resurfaced 2022 video shows one of the suspects joking about throwing a body off the same bridge, prompting wider scrutiny. The suspects say they “blacked out” and cannot recall who was supposed to attach the rope; if convicted they could face 6 to 30 years in prison.
