Slur-Triggered Diversion: Flight Diverts to BWI
An American Airlines flight from Dallas–Fort Worth to Newark diverted to Baltimore/Washington (BWI) after a disruptive passenger allegedly yelled racial and anti-gay slurs at a flight attendant. Layne Lundeen, 67, was restrained to his seat with duct tape and zip ties and arrested at BWI, facing second-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges; he was later released on his own recognizance as federal charges are considered by the FBI and U.S. Attorney.
