Labor Secretary Resigns in Misconduct Probe, Third Cabinet Departure Under Trump
Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has resigned amid misconduct allegations involving her and top aides, making her the third Cabinet member to leave during President Trump’s second term. Acting secretary Keith Sonderling will assume duties as the White House noted Chavez-DeRemer will join the private sector. The inspector general has been probing a possible sexual relationship with a subordinate on her security team; earlier, two aides resigned amid travel-fraud inquiries, and her husband was barred from the department after accusations by two female staffers. Chavez-DeRemer said she would pursue a private-sector role while highlighting progress on skills training, AI readiness, drug-cost reductions, and retirement security during her tenure.
