Six Flags Magic Mountain Retires X2 Coaster Permanently After Decades of Injury Claims
Six Flags Magic Mountain has permanently closed its flagship X2 roller coaster, ending a 24-year run for the attraction known for its 360-degree spinning seats. The decision follows a temporary shutdown in July 2026 and a surge in litigation alleging the ride caused severe brain injuries and deaths. Although park officials stated the ride passed safety tests, they cited declining guest confidence as the primary reason for closure. Attorneys representing injured riders argue the move is too late, with over 100 people claiming injuries and at least two fatalities linked to the coaster over the past two decades.
