Ludvig Aberg's Rise to Ryder Cup Selection

Ludvig Aberg, a former college golf star from Sweden, has been selected as one of the captain's picks for the European team in the upcoming Ryder Cup. Aberg, who turned pro less than four months ago, secured his spot with a victory at the European Masters. He will be the most inexperienced player to ever compete in the Ryder Cup. Alongside Aberg, captain Luke Donald also chose Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, Sepp Straka, Shane Lowry, and Nicolai Hojgaard. The Europeans will be aiming to avenge their loss to the Americans in 2021 and continue their winning streak in the Ryder Cup.

Koepka's Ryder Cup hopes dashed in tight race

Brooks Koepka missed the automatic qualifying cutoff for the Ryder Cup and now relies on being selected as one of the six captain's picks by Zach Johnson. Despite being one of the top players in the world, Koepka's association with LIV Golf may affect his chances. Johnson admitted there hasn't been much communication with LIV golfers and that he will have tough decisions to make when selecting the team. Koepka finished seventh in Ryder Cup points, just missing out on an automatic spot.

Brooks Koepka's Ryder Cup Dreams Rest in Captain's Hands

Brooks Koepka, a five-time major champion, did not qualify for the United States Ryder Cup team automatically after finishing seventh in the Ryder Cup points standings. Koepka, who left the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf League, will now rely on U.S. Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson's six captain's picks to secure a spot on the team. Johnson has been noncommittal about selecting LIV Golf League players, but Koepka's previous performances and recovery from a knee injury may work in his favor. The captain's picks will be announced on August 29.
