Carousel of Progress Reimagined: Walt Returns, New Eras, and a 2027 Overhaul
Disney has announced a major overhaul of the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, shifting its timeline from the 1960s onward, adding Walt Disney to the narration, and introducing four new scenes spanning the 1960s, 1980s, 1999, and a distant future. The ride will close on July 5, 2026, reopens for refurbishment starting July 6 and is expected to complete in 2027, with a new poster, updated finale featuring a robot assistant, and an introductory segment about progress aimed at making the attraction more relatable to today’s audiences.
