Judge frees ex-clerk Caruso on bond after probe gaps flagged
An Orange County judge ordered Michael Caruso’s release on a $160,000 bond after prosecutors urged keeping him jailed in a case alleging kidnapping and molestation of a 4-year-old, citing flaws in the FDLE investigation (notably the number of interviews with the child and lack of cruise-ship evidence). Caruso, a former Palm Beach County clerk of court, faces arraignment Sept. 8 with conditions including no contact with the victim’s family, surrender of his passport, and seizure of his guns.
