Ted Lasso Season 4 pivots as original stars sit out
Ted Lasso’s Season 4 shifts focus to Richmond’s women’s team, so several original stars (including Phil Dunster as Jamie Tartt) aren’t back. Brendan Hunt said Dunster couldn’t fit filming into his schedule and that it wouldn’t have made narrative sense for the men’s team to still exist if the club is thriving. Jason Sudeikis had considered Ted’s return but wanted the new direction to drive the story, and he reportedly had difficult conversations with former cast to tell them they’d been written out. The premiere still nods to the old guard with memorabilia on Ted’s wall.
