Flash floods in Albacete kill 102-year-old woman as Spain braces for weekend storms
A 102-year-old woman died and approximately 90 people were rescued in Madrigueras, Albacete, after flash floods dumped 142 litres of rain per square metre on the town. Regional authorities activated the METEOCAM emergency plan, and water reached one-metre heights in the victim's home. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed solidarity with affected residents. Unsettled weather continues across Spain, with orange alerts for storms and hail in multiple regions, and a potential DANA low threatening torrential rain in the western peninsula on Sunday.
