Rutschman’s Elbow Strain Delays Return to Baltimore, Tests Red Sox Catcher Depth
Adley Rutschman missed his third consecutive game for the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday due to a right elbow issue, delaying his scheduled return to Baltimore on Thursday. Interim manager Chad Tracy indicated the injury is improving but not yet resolved, with Rutschman practicing catch to test his throwing arm. The catcher, who has struggled with a .170 batting average since joining Boston, faces uncertainty regarding his availability for the remainder of the season. While Tracy expressed optimism that Rutschman will avoid the injured list, the injury complicates the Red Sox’s catcher depth and Rutschman’s arbitration value.
