As pandemic-related restrictions known as Title 42 ended, many migrants gathered along sections of the US-Mexico border questioned when or whether they would cross into the United States to seek asylum. Some migrants feared it could be harder for them to stay on US soil with the restrictions lifted. Asylum-seekers at the port were told to keep trying the CBP app, but it never worked for some. The average daily number of migrant arrivals grew this week from 300 to 1,000 in Yuma, Arizona, and authorities expressed alarm.
