Martha Stewart Issues Apology After Viral Backlash to Homeless Halloween Photo
Martha Stewart has issued a formal apology after facing intense online criticism for posting a photo of herself dressed as a homeless person for Halloween. The image, which showed her in tattered clothing holding a sign reading 'I Am Hungry Help Me!!', was part of an Instagram carousel promoting her QVC candle line. Stewart deleted the post shortly after it sparked outrage but later stated she was 'distressed' by the reaction, clarifying that the costume was intended to raise awareness about homelessness rather than mock it. She emphasized her long-standing support for charities addressing the issue, though critics noted the irony of her wealth and the offensive nature of the depiction.
