Trapped Indian Workers Face Deteriorating Conditions in Collapsed Tunnel
Rescue teams in India are facing difficulties in reaching 40 workers trapped in a collapsed highway tunnel due to huge boulders blocking evacuation efforts. The workers have been provided with food, water, and oxygen through a pipe since the incident occurred three days ago. A heavy machine is being brought in to insert an evacuation pipe as the current one is blocked. The tunnel is part of the Char Dham Hindu pilgrimage route and is being constructed in a region prone to landslides and other natural disasters. The project has faced criticism for environmental concerns, and completion has been delayed to May 2024.
