The gap highlights that EPA lab tests and testing paths can differ from everyday driving, since energy measured at the wall vs. from the battery can yield different results; the R2’s larger size and aero profile likely raise highway energy, though it charges very fast, while the Model Y showed weaker charging in this test. The takeaway is that EPA figures can be inflated or not fully representative of real-world conditions, so driving and charging behavior matter for EV efficiency.
