Cybertruck running costs beat Colorado for charging, but upfront price still clouds payback
Over 15,000 miles, a home-charged Tesla Cybertruck runs about $1,100–$1,200 per year (~$7.50–$8 per 100 miles), while a gas Chevy Colorado costs around $2,500 per year (~$16–$17 per 100 miles) at ~21 MPG. So running an EV appears cheaper, but the Cybertruck’s much higher upfront price ($69,990 vs $32,400) and varying charging access mean it will take many miles to achieve payback.
