
Terafab Bet: How Tesla–SpaceX’s AI Fab Could Boost Chip-Equipment Makers
Elon Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX are backing a $16.8 billion Terafab AI semiconductor complex in Grimes County, Texas—spanning over 100 million square feet and aimed at in‑house edge and data‑center AI chips with Intel as a partner. The project could lift demand for chip‑making equipment from suppliers such as KLA, Onto Innovation, Applied Materials and Lam Research, as Terafab covers logic, memory and packaging to accelerate AI initiatives for Tesla and SpaceX.
