Red Wings appoint Shawn Horcoff as interim GM ahead of training camp

The Detroit Red Wings named Shawn Horcoff interim general manager on September 15, 2026, just two days before training camp begins. Horcoff, who has worked in the front office since 2016, will handle day-to-day operations while the team continues its search for a permanent leader. The move follows the removal of Steve Yzerman in July and addresses urgent issues, including the contract of defenseman Simon Edvinsson and the trade request of star center Dylan Larkin.
