Marlins DFA Chris Paddack; Kempner Set for MLB Debut
The Miami Marlins designated veteran pitcher Chris Paddack for assignment after a tough return to the organization, with reliever William Kempner being recalled and set to make his MLB debut. Paddack, signed for $4 million on a one-year deal, struggled to a 7.63 ERA in 30 2/3 innings this season, and Miami will have five days to trade, release, or place him on waivers. Kempner, a former top prospect, provides a fresh arm for the bullpen as the Marlins consider options like Braxton Garrett and Robby Snelling to fill the rotation.
