Educator and activist Christopher Affleck dies at 83
Christopher Anne Affleck, mother of Ben and Casey Affleck, dies at 83 after a life marked by teaching, civil rights activism, and community work. A Radcliffe graduate who earned a Harvard diploma, she spent 35 years as a public school teacher, taught literacy during Freedom Summer, marched against the Vietnam War, and remained active in Cape Cod community projects. She cherished her family—grandchildren Indiana, Violet, Atticus, Fin, and Sam—and, after being diagnosed with limited time in 2025, lived to see her grandson graduate before passing peacefully in her sleep two days later.
