CIAA Adds Friday Night Blitz to snag extra Division II playoff bids
The CIAA announced the Friday Night Blitz Game, a new contest between its third- and fourth-place teams played the night before the CIAA championship in Durham, NC, designed to generate revenue and give one of the 16 at-large Division II playoff spots to a conference contender. The idea borrows from the Big Ten’s 2020 Champions Week concept and follows the CIAA’s recent playoff momentum after Johnson C. Smith and Virginia Union hosted playoff games last season.
