Transgender athlete AB Hernandez claims two CIF state track titles amid protests
AB Hernandez of Jurupa Valley High won the CIF state high jump (5-10) and triple jump (42-8¾) and finished third in the long jump at the 106th CIF State Track & Field Championships in Clovis. Under CIF policy, transgender athletes who medal do not displace cisgender finalists in those events. Hernandez’s participation, which drew protests, prompted political reactions while she recently graduated from Jurupa Valley High.
