2019 review found no fraud in Omar's citizenship, complicating current probe
A 2019 review by the first Trump administration found no evidence of fraud in Rep. Ilhan Omar’s citizenship records, according to The Washington Post. This finding contrasts with the current 2026 investigation, which focuses on similar allegations regarding her birthdate and her father’s role in her naturalization. While the earlier review cleared her, the current probe has led to a federal raid on her home and subpoenas for her family, with officials citing potential age discrepancies that could affect her status as a minor at the time of naturalization.
