Cannes Directors’ Fortnight unveiled its 2026 lineup, led by Kantemir Balagov’s Butterfly Jam opening the festival’s parallel section; the slate features nine features and several debuts, including Reed Van Dyk’s Atonement, Arie Esiri & Chuko Esiri’s Clarissa, Lisandro Alonso’s Double Freedom, Quentin Dupieux’s Le Vertige, as well as animated titles Viva Carmen and We Are Aliens, with Claire Denis being honored at the opening.
