The law, passed in 1965, states that anyone fraudulently pretending to be a religious figure in a public place is guilty of a misdemeanor and can face a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment for up to one year. It is unclear if anyone has been prosecuted under this law, but it is advised to avoid these costumes in Alabama.

Illinois AG Reveals Shocking Number of Catholic Clergy Involved in Child Sex Abuse

A report by the attorney general of Illinois has found that over 1,900 children were sexually abused by more than 450 credibly accused abusers, including priests and lay religious brothers, in the state's six dioceses since 1950. The investigation's goals were to offer an account of past abuse and "provide voice to survivors," as criminal prosecutions and civil lawsuits will be impossible for many victims due to statutes of limitations and the deaths of perpetrators.
