Witness recalls pilot’s panic as Amazon cargo plane overruns Miami runway
New details in the Miami crash show the Amazon cargo plane may have considered aborting its landing as it overshot the runway; onboard data indicated throttles at full power and no speed brakes or thrust reversers were deployed. A witness described the pilot as nervous and shaken, saying the flyer told someone his career was over after the crash, and noting a bruise on the pilot’s hand/forehead. Five people were killed and five injured, including seven people in a cleaning company van struck by the plane. The pilots have been identified as Joseph Carroll and Jaime Felipe Silva Molina, and investigators plan to release cockpit voice recordings on Wednesday.
