SNL Weekend Update Draws Backlash for Cornell Rape Joke

Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment sparked significant controversy after Michael Che and Colin Jost joked about the Cornell University sexual assault case. The sketch, which aired on October 3, 2026, used the ongoing legal dispute as a setup for a punchline targeting Jost, leading to widespread criticism on social media. While some viewers defended the satire as a critique of institutional privilege, others condemned it as disrespectful to victims of sexual violence. NBC has not yet issued a response to the backlash.

Jackson's Pulp Fiction monologue.
