Bidon in Hand, Crashing Fell: Pogacar’s Vuelta Setback
Tadej Pogačar crashed at nearly 60 km/h on Stage 8 of the Vuelta a España after reportedly having one hand on a bidon while his front wheel struck an obstacle; teammate Sivakov said he saw him drink just before the crash, and UAE manager Joxean Fernández Matxín said the one-handed grip contributed to the fall. He was diagnosed with a concussion, a displaced fracture of his left collarbone and a stable C7 cervical fracture, with doctors waiting 24 hours before operating. Pogačar was transported to a hospital in Barcelona and his comeback this season remains uncertain.
