UNC Football Faces Leadership Vacuum as Belichick Absence and Probe Deepen
UNC defensive coordinator Steve Belichick remains on indefinite medical leave with no return date, even as the university expands its investigation into the football program. Head coach Bill Belichick has refused to provide details, stating the absence is a medical matter. The program is currently operating without a general manager after Michael Lombardi resigned, and investigators are questioning staff about drug use and inappropriate relationships. Despite the turmoil, UNC won its season opener against TCU, and Belichick insists the team is focused on football.
